Question:

dead at 65,000. Washer tank failures. Brake rotors ($200 per) only survive one set of pads. Spend the extra for a warranty. I’ve paid $7000 in less than 1 year. My lesson. If you can’t afford a new one… you probably can’t afford a used one. Check audiworld.com forum for others with issues.

Response:

I just bought a 2000 S4. Here are some things that I’ve found… 1. The stock throttle body boot (TBB) is prone to failure. There are a lot of aftermarket solutions for this such as boot braces and solid replacements for the rubber boot. 2. The stock diverter valves are prone to failure. They can easily be replaced with Bosch 114/710N vales. They are about $50 a piece ($100 total – one per turbo), and you can do that yourself pretty easily. 3. You didn’t mention whether it was a manual or Tip tranny. I think the manual had some gear burring that made shifting into 2nd hard. I’m not too clear on this as I have a Tip…anyone out there have more/better info? There is a lot of information at http://www.s4biturbo.com/ That being said, I absolutely LOVE the vehicle. I bought it as an Audi Assured vehicle from a dealer, so I have 2 years on a limited warranty after the factory warranty expires. My concerns may be a bit less than yours. HTH! I’ve had a 2000 S4 Tip since new. Minimal problems, very reliable. Keep an eye on wheel alignment or it will eat tires like crazy. > No its stock – he’s my chiropractor and doesn’t drive it hard at all… > Has it been modified? > > Hi!
